Due to both media perception and historical representation people living outside of the arctic as a desolate space, of natural beauty, wilderness and isolation. Though partially being correct the arctic is a space of constant development, heavy industry, inhabitation and natural resource wealth.
Barents Postcard shifts attempts to shift the gaze from nature and wilderness to urbanity and industry of scatter the Barents region in Norway and Russia. While playing on the theme of tourism which is currently very prominent regionally and the alternate ideas of what one can visit.
